Hostellerie la Chaumière, Arsonval
Overview
Hostellerie la Chaumière is a charming old country house hotel, comprising just 12 tastefully decorated rooms with gastronomic restaurant. This is an excellent base from which to explore Troyes (about 35 miles away) and the Champagne area, and is also well positioned if you're looking for a stopping off point for travel further south into France.
From here you can find what is for many the 'undiscovered' and arguably more beautiful region of Champagne in this Aube region, where there is much that will charm and delight you as you unlock its secrets.
Troyes was once the capital of Champagne and a prosperous town back in the Middle Ages. So there's a Medieval and Gothic feel to the place with half-timbered buildings in the old town area, where you can enjoy a bustling market, interesting museums, or just amble down the narrow streets and see what you can find.
Rooms are well decorated, with a calm, rustic feel and all overlooking the surrounding park and nearby river. You'll be sure to enjoy dining in the hotel's gourmet restaurant serving local and rural cuisine and offering views of the hotel’s garden which leads down to the river.

Gourmet/Special Occasion
This lovely hotel is run by Bernard Guillerand and his English wife, Susan, and they are some of the most friendly and welcoming hosts around who seem to be able to marry the 'savoir faire' of French gastronomy with the English art of 'savoir vivre'.
From the hotel's panoramic restaurant and terrace, one can appreciate the garden and woodland leading down to the river, each season introducing a different decor and atmosphere.
In this warmly coloured, beamed dining room, Bernard and Susan with their team invite you to enjoy some rural and local cuisine, with gastronomic dishes being inspired by the markets of the Aube region.
On the 'Champagne route' but an oasis of calm
